all of gods dark places is typeset entirely by hand and letterpress printed on a 1948 Auto-Vic Art Platen.
With two new woodcuts created especially for this edition, 'book-ending' the poem itself. These have been pressed by hand on an 1825 Albion Press at L-13 Light Industrial Workshop. One is 4-colour, the other 5-colour (his first)
The long poem 'all of gods dark places' originally appeared as a wall text at Opelvillen, Russelheim, Germany for the exhibition Billy Childish: unbegreiflich aber gewiss in 2016.
Typefaces used include Garamond, Bodoni and — uniquely from the Ludlow foundry — Tempo. The poem itself is set in 60pt Artcraft, which was created in 1912 by German-American engraver Robert Wiebking.
Front cover artwork is embossed by hand on a 1960s Marshall embosser.
The board covering is Roma Guido Reni, a beautiful, textured handmade paper which is no longer produced by Fabriano. However, the House of Tangerine managed to source sheets from a long forgotten corner of a deserted warehouse in south London.
all of gods dark places is the first Billy Childish book to be entirely letterpress printed.
Signed by the author in pencil using his gallows symbol.
