Richard H Chapman was born in Zambia and relocated to England at the age of 8. He discovered sculpture at the age of 40 and realised that he was still strongly influenced by his early years in Africa.
The primary inspiration for Chapman’s sculptures derives from the art of ancient civilisations. The bronze figures, with their distinct and powerful style, exude both strength and serenity, embodying the essence of the spiritual energy found in deities from primitive mythologies, which watch over us like guardians.
