Internationally renowned British artist, Derek Hare, has over 50 years experience as a landscape and seascape artist. He has lived and worked in several different countries and is constantly travelling to many and varied locations throughout the world. Throughout his working life, he has produced oil paintings for private individuals, companies and also countries, whilst continuing to exhibit regularly.
Born & brought up in South Shields, on the North East coast of England, the sea has always held a fascination for him. During the 1970s and 80s, time spent in Sweden, Norway, Denmark & Germany introduced many collectors to Derek Hare’s paintings including corporate clients such as Dagens Nyheter, Deutsche Bank, Kreissparkasse, Merck Fink, Barclays and KPMG.
In the 1980s, many oil paintings, including several specially commissioned works, were purchased by the then ruler of Dubai, HRH Sheikh Maktoum Al Maktoum. These still remain in the family’s collections in UK and abroad.
In 2003, he was asked to produce a series of 30 seascape oil paintings to be used in promoting the Seychelles as a tourist destination.
A collection of landscape and seascape paintings of India followed, with many images being used by the India Tourist Board, now Incredible India. India still forms a strong influence behind many of the artist’s works and, more recently, images from Laos and Vietnam have added to the range of subject matter.
Many of Derek Hare’s oil paintings are to be found in image libraries where they are used for merchandising and marketing purposes, as well is in many printed publications.
Derek Hare has curated collections for both residential and corporate clients as well as producing specially commissioned artworks for private clients, companies, hotels and super yachts. His seascape paintings can be found both on land and at sea,
