Anthony Green

For Bob going to Heaven quickly

Enquire

Leading contemporary artist Anthony Green (RA) was born in 1939 and studied at the Slade School of Art. His talent evident from the beginning of his career, he won the Henry Tonks Prize for drawing in 1960, the Gulbenkian Purchase Award in 1963 and the USA Harkness Fellowship in 1967. In 1971 he was elected to the Royal Academy, he is a Fellow of University College, London, and now also serves as a Trustee of the Royal Academy.

Anthony Green’s autobiographically inspired paintings make him one of the most popular artists to show in the Royal Academy of Art Summer Exhibition each year. His paintings, full of narratives of family life and often set within the domestic sphere, enchant collectors with their colour, humour and ability to capture life's events, happy and sad, in a way that people can connect with. For Bob going to Heaven Quickly is a superb example of Anthony Green’s work - narrative, figurative, colourful, highly detailed and demonstrating his characteristic love of moving beyond the traditional rectangular frame.
