Alexey Terenin was born in Moscow in 1969.
In 1993 he graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute. Whilst studying at university, he began his career as a graphic artist and painter, successfully combining the architect and the artist’s practice in his works.
He spent part of his childhood in Prague which influenced his work, absorbing the heritage of East and West cultures. The language of memories and associations allows him to build his own city of dreams, where in his fantasies, he chooses the time, place, and rules of the game, and then travels with his characters. Art critic Alexei Vakhmanov has defined this style as magical realism.
